Original Project Sponsors

The People of the Heath project has received funding and support from a number of sponsors.

East Hampshire District Council

East Hampshire District Council ‘Approved by You’ Community Grant

The Community Grants Scheme is a unique way of distributing grants for projects which help improve communities by giving the public the power to decide. Community groups can bid for a grant to help them run a small local project and the public will vote to make the final decision on which projects will be delivered in their neighbourhood. The funding has been made available by Hampshire County Council and is allocated to specific areas which are served by a County Councillor.

A lasting difference for heritage and people

Using money raised through the National Lottery, the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) gives grants to sustain and transform our heritage. From museums, parks and historic places to archaeology, natural environment and cultural traditions we invest in every part of our diverse heritage.

South Downs National Park Authority ‘Sustainable Communities Fund’

The South Downs National Park Authority is committed to supporting the communities that live and work within the South Downs. Fostering the economic and social well-being of local communities is the duty of the Authority, in order to deliver its purposes.

The conservation, protection and enhancement of this spectacular landscape cannot be achieved without the support of partner organisations and the local knowledge of people who live and work here. By working together, we can all have a positive impact on future generations living in the area and ensure a safe and sustainable future for the South Downs.

The Petersfield Museum

The project is hosted by Petersfield Museum and overseen by an executive committee of five members – two trustees of the Museum, the Museum’s curator and the two archaeologists appointed to undertake the field campaign and associated research. The Executive Committee is in regular consultation with a range of interested parties who are represented on an Advisory Committee.
